Saskatoon Circle is a week long ancestral skills gathering that brings different sorts of folks together to learn skills and celebrate what unifies us – living on the earth together.
The gathering occurs on land originally inhabited by the Methow (Metui) People who continue to be a presence in spirit and body in this special place.
We draw from a pool of the most skilled, respected, and cutting edge instructors in the field of wilderness skills, bushcraft, earthcraft, and culture building to bring you a unique event. At Saskatoon Circle, we recognize that the future of humanity depends on our understanding of the past to build resiliency in skills and community. This is no “make and take” craft faire – this is a life changing experience that may shift your path towards something a little more wild. All are welcome, come as you are, and prepare to go deep together into the skills and lifeways that have given life to humanity for eons.
My name is Katie Russell Sorensen. I taught hide tanning at the very first Saskatoon Circle in 2009! After that, I worked with the kids program before transitioning to the organizing team. Together with my husband Dave, our family, and a crew of home team friends, we make Saskatoon Circle happen!
I see a huge need to bring people back together, as apparently dominant culture is doing everything possible to divide us, isolate us and disempower us. I’m over it. It’s time to come together, release fear, and be humans together in this beautiful world that has fed, nurtured and held us for so long. It’s time to figure out what we can do to build resilience in our hearts, our communities, and the actual physical landscapes we inhabit. It’s time to pay homage to the past with our songs, stories, grief, and love. It’s time to build a map to a future where we depend on each other, embody freedom, and have the agency to do what we will with our lives.
Come join us around the fire!
